Oral Sleep Dentistry for "Big Babies" and "Dental Chickens"
Imagine arriving at your dental appointment without anxiety.
Imagine Feeling relaxed and sleepy throughout your procedure.
Imagine the doctor telling you that the root canal appointment is finished seemingly minutes after it has begun.
Oral Sleep Dentistry can make your next dental visit a better one. With the use of only oral medication, we can make all of the above happen. The Oral Sleep Dentistry procedure involves taking one pill the night before and a few pills the morning before the procedure. We will then give you more pills as needed after your arrival in the office. The root canal procedure is started after you become comfortable and drowsy. Most patients feel like they have slept through the entire procedure and will have little to no memory of their procedure.

Cutting Edge Technology
Digital Radiography: In our practice the health and safety of our patients is of the highest concern. This cutting edge technology allows an approximate 80% reduction in radiation to our patients with an increase in diagnostic capabilities. These digital radiographs have the added benefit of always being available in our computers for easy access any time in the future.
Surgical Operating Microscope: This advanced technology has completely changed the scope and practice of endodontic care. The surgical microscope has expanded the field of endodontics to create micro-surgical endodontics. The magnification and illumination this technology offers, allows us to see tiny malformations in anatomy never before possible. This technology has advanced the diagnostic and treatment possibilities in all aspects of endodontic care.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT): Cone Beam Computed Tomography is probably the greatest technological advance in dentistry in the past 50 years. Hundreds of images can be obtained in seconds of any individual tooth or area of the oral cavity. These high resolution images are achievable with very low radiation to the patient. These images are then analyzed in a sophisticated computer in our office which gives detailed information never before possible. CBCT has become an indispensable tool in evaluating and diagnosing pathology with a higher degree of accuracy as compared to standard x-rays.
Ultrasonics: Dr. Tsuyuki uses sophisticated ultrasonic units in procedures to removes posts (retreatment) as well as aid in the search for calcified canals. These units are also used in microsurgery to prepare the root-end to receive a reverse filling when indicated. A variety of ultrasonic tips are available for different situations. The ultrasonic tips vibrate up to 25,000 cycles per second to ensure accurate and efficient use.
About Dr. Tsuyuki
Dr. Tsuyuki, a.k.a. "Dr. T", is an underwater photographer and martial artist who happened to become an endodontist. Having been raised near the water in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, it was natural for him to veer towards the water. After graduating with honors from the University of Southern California with a concentration in Marine Biology and the University of California at Los Angeles with his dental degree (D.D.S.), he completed two residencies at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, California (General Practice/Hospital Dentistry and Endodontics).
Dr. Tsuyuki is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists, California State Association of Endodontists, College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics, California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Central Coast Dental Society. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a consultant to the Endodontic Residency Program at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach. He has also previously been a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
Dr. T has been married to his wife, Alice, for over thirty years. They have two adult daughters who, with Alice and his office staff, keep him in line. Sensei Ray has studied and taught Shotokan karate for almost 40 years. He is also a certified Divemaster who is very involed with underwater photography as well as teaching scuba diving.
At the current time, he and his wife share their home with two German Shepherds, four cats... and a lot of weeds.
Dr. Tsuyuki has been awarded the status of a Diplomate and is certified by the American Board of Endodontics. This means that he has gone above and beyond the requirements of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontics, and the California State Board of Dentistry.
Dr. Tsuyuki completed a rigorous examination process administered by a panel of experts in the field of Endodontics and has demonstrated an exemplary level of knowledge, understanding, and clinical expertise in Endodontics. This process traditionally takes anywhere from five to nine years after finishing an Endodontic residency. Diplomate status is the highest academic achievement for an Endodontist. Only one in five U.S. Endodontists are board certified.
